Method #1: Changing Content Language on Twitter

The content language is the language you see when viewing your home timeline. Use the steps below to change it.

For Mobile

  1. Open your Twitter account.

  4. Click on “Languages”.

  3. Tap the option for “Settings and privacy”.
  4. Select “Accessibility, display, and languages”.
  5. Click “Language”.
  6. Tap the option for “Languages you may know” or, in some cases, “Select Additional languages”.
  7. Choose your selection and tap the “Done” button.

Method #2: Changing Display Language on Twitter

For Desktop

Note that you can only change the display language on Twitter using the Twitter website. However, you can change your phone’s language for mobile, which will also reflect on Twitter.

This is the only method that allows you to change your display language on Twitter directly using the below steps.

  1. Open the Twitter website and access your account.
  2. Tap on the “More” button.
  3. Click on the “Settings and privacy” option.
  4. Tap the “Accessibility, display, and language” option.
  5. Click on “Languages”.
  6. Under “Display Language”, select the language you wish Twitter to use.
  7. Lastly, click the “Save” button.

For Android

  1. Go to Settings and click on “System” or “Personal”.
  2. Locate and click the “Languages and Input”.
  3. Tap on “Languages”.
  4. Click the “Add a language” option.
  5. Select your preferred language and drag the language to the top of the list.
  6. Restart the Twitter app.

Once you relaunch the Twitter app, the display language will have updated.

Method #3: Translating Tweet Language

There is a good chance that you will come across tweets written in a language that you are unable to comprehend while using Twitter.

In such a scenario, you have the option of translating the tweet into a language that you are comfortable communicating in.

Find the tweet that is written in a different language, then click the “Translate Tweet” button that is located beneath it.

When you do so, you will be given the option to translate your content into a different language, or Twitter will use the language you selected in the previous step to translate your content.
